The basic concept, classification and application of valves

Basic concepts:

• Inlet and outlet: The valve has one inlet and one or more outlets, from which fluid enters and flows out.

• Valve body: The valve body is the main part of a valve, usually made of metal or plastic, used to accommodate and support valve components.

• Disc/Disc: A disc or disc is a component that controls the flow of liquid or gas when a valve is opened and closed.

• Conventional flow direction: The valve has a specific flow direction during normal operation. The direction of flow is usually indicated by arrow markings.

• Operating mechanism: Valves are usually controlled by manual, electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic operating mechanisms.

Classification:

• According to structural classification, common valve types include gate valves, globe valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, plug valves, etc.

• Classification based on working principles: such as manual valves, automatic valves, emergency shut-off valves, etc.

• Classified by transmission mode: such as manual valves, electric valves, hydraulic valves, pneumatic valves, etc.

• Classification based on application scenarios: such as water treatment valves, oil and natural gas valves, fire valves, air conditioning valves, chemical valves, etc.
