How Does A Water Pressure Reducing Valve Work?
The water pressure reducing valve works under a spring-loaded diaphragm, which will narrow or widen the water flow according to the amount of water pressure entering the valve. When the water enters the valve at high pressure, the inner device constricts the diaphragm to narrow the flow of water. Under this situation, the pressure will be reduced into a range of 50 to 80 psi. It greatly reduces the stress of your plumbing system. Conversely, when the water pressure drops, the diagram opens wider to allow more water to flow through the valve.
You can adjust the screw on the top of regulator to limit the water flow to adjust the pressure
Where&How is A Water Pressure Reducing Valve Used For?If you want to DIY, it’s best to install it after the shutoff valve. Before beginning, shut off the water supply lines.
You’ll notice that most pressure regulator valves have an arrow pointing in the direction of the water flow. We should connect the pipes with the valve in the right position. If the position is wrong, the valve will not work properly. Be sure to test the water pressure and make adjustments accordingly.
